Karachi, April 23: The six-day blockade of the National Highway in Sindh has brought local trade and industrial activity to a grinding halt, paralyzing supply chains and sending shockwaves through the national economy. Businesses are reeling from crippling financial losses as shipments remain stranded and a sea of containers continues to pile up, turning vital trade routes into virtual dead zones.
Over 3,500 vehicles remain stranded near Sukkur, many carrying export consignments, perishable items, and critical industrial inputs. The complete halt in goods movement is already affecting market supplies, with shortages looming.
This disruption has fractured essential supply chain linkages. Industries across provinces are facing shutdown risks due to raw materials stuck at Karachi Port, while exporters are missing delivery deadlines further damaging Pakistan’s credibility as a reliable trading partner and threatening future contracts.
Unless resolved immediately, the blockade could lead to widespread operational shutdowns, job losses, and a costly, prolonged recovery beside negatively impacting the image of the country as a trading hub.
The OICCI is confident that the authorities concerned in Sindh and the Government of Pakistan are aware of the criticality of the issue and will act swiftly to restore the flow of goods. Uninterrupted trade is vital to promote local trade and safeguard export competitiveness and economic stability.
سندھ میں قومی شاہرا کی بندش پر او آئی سی سی آئی کاتشویش کا اظہار
کراچی: سندھ میں قومی شاہراہ کی مسلسل 6روزہ بندش سے ملک بھر میں مقامی تجارتی اور انڈسٹری سرگرمیاں شدید متاثر ہورہی ہیں جس کے نتیجے میں سامان کی ترسیل میں تاخیر اور کنٹینرز کے بڑھتے ہوئے بیک لاگ کے باعث بھاری مالی نقصان ہورہا ہے۔
اس وقت سکھر کے قریب 3500سے زائد گاڑیاں پھنسی ہوئی ہیں جن میں برآمدی سامان،جلد خراب ہونے والی اشیاء اوراہم صنعتی خام مال موجودہے۔ سامان کی نقل و حرکت میں مکمل تعطل پہلے ہی مارکیٹ کی سپلائی متاثر کررہا ہے جس سے رسدکو خطرہ اور اشیاء ضروریہ کی قلت کا خدشہ پیدا ہوگیا ہے۔
قومی شاہراہ کی بندش سپلائی چین کو متاثر کررہی ہے۔کراچی پورٹ پر خام مال کے پھنسنے کی وجہ سے ملک بھر کی صنعتوں کو بند ہونے کے خطرات کا سامنا ہے۔ جبکہ ایکسپورٹرزڈیلیوری ڈیڈلائنز پوری نہ ہونے کے باعث اپنے بین الاقوامی شراکت داروں کاعتماد کھورہے ہیں جوکہ مستقبل کے تجارتی معاہدوں کیلئے نقصان دہ ہوسکتاہے۔
او آئی سی سی آئی نے اپنے بیان میں کہاہے کہ اگر فوری طورپر اس مسئلے کا حل نہ نکالاگیا تو یہ صورتحال ملک بھر میں صنعتی بندش،روزگار کے خاتمے اور طویل المدّتی معاشی بحالی میں رکاوٹ کا سبب بننے کے ساتھ ساتھ پاکستان کی تجارتی مرکز کے طورپر ساکھ کو نقصان پہنچا سکتی ہے۔
او آئی سی سی آئی کو امید ہے کہ سندھ کی متعلقہ انتظامیہ اور حکومتِ پاکستان اس سنگین صورتحال کی نزاکت کو سمجھتے ہوئے فوری اقدامات اٹھاکر اشیاء کی ترسیل بحال کریں گی۔بلا تعطل تجارت مقامی تجارت کے فروغ اور برآمدی مسابقت اور معاشی استحکام کیلئے نہایت ضروری ہے۔
